Woodstock Fire is reminding residents to always listen to CO alarms after some residents stayed inside when their alarm went off
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Fire Department is still trying to drive home the importance of carbon monoxide detectors.
This morning around 3:31 a.m. a carbon monoxide alarm was set off in a Woodstock home. The residents heard the alarm, but stayed inside the house until the Fire Department arrived. Public Information Coordinator with the Woodstock Fire Department Lisa Woods says you should treat these alarms like a fire alarm and exit the building. Always assume when they go off that the threat is real.
The source of the carbon monoxide was a charging marine battery - the kind used for boats and ATVs. Only a small amount of carbon monoxide was released and the residents escaped any serious harm, but others might not be so lucky in a similar situation.
