The OPP Detachment in Oxford has laid charges, while the Norfolk OPP are searching for suspects in a theft.

OXFORD - Charges have been laid after Oxford OPP officers spotted a vehicle that was going close to 140 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone.

The 40-year-old driver from Burlington was pulled over on Sunday, and they now face a list of offences. They include speeding, stunt driving, careless driving, and operating an unsafe vehicle.

On top of all of this, police say the driver also registered an alert on a roadside screening device, so they will be off the road for 37 days thanks to two licence suspensions. This includes a 30-day suspension for stunt driving and a 7-day suspension for registering an alert on the roadside test.

The vehicle was also placed into an unfit status, and the plates were also impounded for two weeks.

The OPP would like to remind drivers out there that it is their responsibility to make sure their vehicle is safe for the roads.

Officers were made aware of the incident on Tuesday and went to the property on Jackson Side Road to investigate. The theft took place between June 27th and this past Tuesday, as unknown suspects stole a yellow 2010 International 70S truck tractor.

It has an Ontario licence plate CF97080, and also had an electronic logging device inside, with the words "C. Spence Haulage" on its side.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Norfolk OPP or Crime Stoppers.
