Deb Gilvesy is seeking a second term as the Mayor of Tillsonburg.
TILLSONBURG - The Mayor of Tillsonburg is looking to stick around for another four years.
Deb Gilvesy is wrapping up her first term as Mayor and she served as a town councillor for one term beforehand.
During her time as a councillor, Gilvesy played a role in the creation of the Town of Tillsonburg smartphone app and the tree policy that requires all new residential properties to have a tree planted.
She was also quite busy during her first term as Mayor with the community centre project and the Kinsmen bridge replacement. If she's re-elected this fall, she would like to address the town's aging fire hall.
"It is going to need either an addition or renovation, we're not sure what that looks like, but it is in the Asset Management Plan. We definetly need to do something with the fire hall and it would be my first priority."
The town is also exploring a partnership with ERTH Power, so Gilvesy would also like to see that through.
She says this will be the first time time the town will be electing a Strong Mayor and that's something residents should consider before heading to the polls.
"I have been a Strong Mayor since May 1st of 2025 and I think I am exemplified not abusing those powers."
The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
