Union Gas donates $1000 to the Woodstock Fire Department's Public Safety Programs

The Woodstock Fire Department's Fire Extinguisher Training Program is getting a boost from Union Gas.

The utility made a $1000 donation to the department today which will allow the department to host 13 sessions for local organizations that may not otherwise be able to include this training cost in their budgets.

Fire Chief Scott Tegler says any amount of money helps.

"Obviously in today's world we all know that money is tight and to be able to take this and improve our public safety programs in our municipality and address some of those areas we would identify as maybe higher risk that normally would not have substantial training or awareness."

The Woodstock Fire Department provides fire extinguisher training to over 1,200 people per year using a digital training unit.  This unit permits a "mess free" training session that can be conducted anywhere and is designed to improve public safety through education.
