OXFORD CENTRE - Firefighters in Oxford County are livid after someone broke into one of their vehicles while they were out battling a structure fire.
According to a Facebook post from Captain Dan Alyea of the Norwich Fire Department, they were battling a blaze on Saturday night between 8:30 p.m. and midnight. One of the Oxford Centre firefighters had their vehicle broken into and several items were taken. The vehicle was parked at the Norwich Fire Hall while the crews were battling the blaze.
Among the items stolen is the firefighter's green light which is used in personal vehicles to respond to and from the fire hall when they are called in for an emergency. The firefighters are required to purchase those green lights out of their own pocket and their sole purpose is to allow them to respond to emergencies faster.
Anyone with information on this theft should contact Oxford OPP or Crime Stoppers.
