People are invited to come out to a mental health workshop at the Community Employment Services this Wednesday.
WOODSTOCK - CMHA Oxford and Community Employment Services are presenting a mental health workshop.
This information session is for people who may deal with mental health challenges while being unemployed for a while, and they're unclear on how to get back into the workforce.
Employment and Career Consultant for CES, Lee-Anne Root says they will have three presenters on hand who will share their own experiences.
"We have three guest speakers who will be speaking about their struggles with mental health challenges, and/or addiction challenges, and how they were able to overcome that, what kind of support that they reached out to in order to help them manage that effectively and then also add work into their lives.
Root says she hopes this session gives people hope and confidence to get back on their feet.
"I think that people, once they get around other people whether other people are struggling with mental health challenges or just people there to support them, people start to recognize some of their strengths. Often times in our organization and the workshops that I run, I have a lot of clients come in and they seem to not be able to identify those strengths and the skills that they have, other people will be able to help them with that as well. Usually they leave and they're more confident in their ability to move forward, they have a better idea on how they can sell themselves to an employer with their resume and some of those things."
This will be the first of two workshops, with the next one happening on June 1st. Root says it will give organizers a chance to get feedback from the public as they head into the next information session.
The event will be on May 15th inside the CES office in Woodstock. It is free to attend and coffee and some treats will be provided as well.
It goes from 5:30 to 7:00pm.
