Crews are anticipating flooding in Glen Morris on the west bank of the Grand River at some point today.
BRANT COUNTY - While large sections of the City of Brantford remain under water, Brant County has been able to avoid any major flooding.
Crews are anticipating flooding in Glen Morris on the west bank of the Grand River at some point today as a result of an ice jam releasing in Cambridge.
Fire Chief Michael Smith says residents have been notified.
"We noted the flooding peaked in Glen Morris around 3:00 am this morning. Based on the investigation, we did not deem it necessary to evacuate residents."
The County officials continue to closely monitor the situation in the County and several roads have been closed due to flooding.
Road closures include:
- Newport Road (between Cockshutt Road and River Road)
- Norwich Road (between Maple Ave. and Middletown Line Road)
- Front Street in Onondaga
- 5th Concession (between Middletown Line Road and Lawrence Road)
Smith says it is extremely dangerous to travel on these roads.
"Do not travel near these closed roads. The current flooding situation is unpredictable and subject to rapid change. The situation could quickly become more dangerous. Please be very wary and caution and stay far back from flood waters."
The City of Brantford has declared a State of Emergency and evacuations are underway as a result of severe flooding.
