Flu season is upon us and Oxford County Public Health is offering free flu shot clinics around the county.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Public Health is encouraging everyone to get the flu shot. There will be free flu vaccination clinics offered throughout the county.
Public Health Nurse Susan Bruce tells Heart FM why people should get vaccinated.
"The flu leaves you achy, unwell, and unable to get out of bed. For those who are unable to get immunized because they are too young for example, it's important for their caregivers and those around them to be immunized."
Children under the age of 6 months can not receive a flu vaccination at the clinics.
Bruce explains how people can prepare for the shot.
"If you remember wear a short sleeve shirt it makes it easier to administer the flu shot. For children and adults as well we hope that you've had something to eat recently so you don't feel unwell because you're hungry."
The effectiveness of the flu vaccination varies depending on your health and your age.
