You will be able to enjoy free Wi-Fi at local parks in Brant County this summer thanks to a $48,000 Canada Health Community Initiative grant.
BRANT COUNTY - You will be able to enjoy free Wi-Fi at local parks in Brant County this summer.
The County was awarded a $48,852 grant from the Canada Health Community Initiative to make this happen. Mayor David Bailey says the County is thankful for this incredible grant.
"After consulting with the public, we learned that many citizens would like free access to Wi-Fi in local parks. We are so pleased that, with the assistance from the Government of Canada, we can make this happen in 2022."
The following parks will receive free Wi-Fi:
- Burford Community Centre, 14 Potter Drive, Burford
- Scotland Optimist Park, 81 Simcoe Street, Scotland
- Mt. Pleasant Park, 555 Burtch Road, Mt. Pleasant
- Arena Park/South Dumfries Community Centre, 7 Gaukel Drive, St. George
- Paris Lions Park, 36 Laurel Street, Paris
The County asked the public for their comments around implementing free Wi-Fi at local parks in 2021. The three main reasons residents wanted this access was to communicate with friends and family, for work purposes and to obtain information about County services and programs.
Bailey says this will help residents feel connected.
"Digital solutions, such as free Wi-Fi at local parks, allow people and communities the opportunity to feel connected. We will continue to build Brant’s resiliency."
