Oxford County is getting over $150,000 from the Federal Government to help fund six accessibility projects in the county.
Local MP Dave MacKenzie made the announcement today through the Enabling Accessibility Fund. MacKenzie tells Heart FM he is always happy to make these types of fundraising announcements and encourages more organizations to apply in the future. "It is across the County and that is a nice thing to see and you know we can only fund those things that people apply for, so in this case the applications came in from across the County and I am happy to see they have all been received and accepted."
Funding will go towards six projects across the County. They include over $32,000 for the Town of Tillsonburg to construct a barrier free washroom and $15,000 to make an existing playground more accessible in Norwich. The Township of South West Oxford was given $20,000 to build an accessible playground. The City of Woodstock was also given $50,000 to build a new accessible playground similar to the one in Ingersoll. South Gate Centre will get $28, 000 to retrofit an existing reception area and install automated door openers. Bethel Pentecostal Church will be receiving $9, 251 to install automated door openers and build a barrier-free washroom.
