Over 400 people helped raise $149,365.23 for VON Sakura House.
OXFORD COUNTY - It was a great year for the Hike for Hospice in Woodstock.
The annual fundraiser helps support VON Sakura House, and took place on September 20th at Roth Park.
Fund Development Officer with VON Oxford and VON Sakura House, Chelsea Stephens, reveals the fundraising total from the event.
“We were really fortunate. We had over 400 people in the park, which is amazing. Our final fundraising total was $149,365.23.”
Stephens says VON Sakura House fundraises for roughly 40 to 50 percent of their operating budget, so this money raised will go a long way.
“That money all goes towards helping us continue to provide end-of-life care to patients and their families from Oxford County and beyond here at the VON Sakura House.”
She adds it was not a record-breaking year for the event, but they came real close, and they had more sponsors than ever.
A total of 344 patients stayed at Sakura House in 2024, free of charge.
