Gems and Java: Home Edition will be live streamed on Friday October 29th and you can still sign up for your home party host kit.
OXFORD COUNTY - The 10th annual Gems and Java is fast approaching and it's going to be a virtual event once again.
Gems and Java: Home Edition will be livestreamed on Friday October 29th starting at 7:00 p.m. and all of the proceeds will be going to Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia.
Founder and Chair Shelley Green says they're encouraging people to host their own Gems and Java parties this year.
"It can be very simple, just invite your friends, family, neighbours or coworkers into your home! A small group of people is actually better for this type of party because it can allow for better discussion after they watch the program."
You can sign up for a Gems and Java Home Party Host kit online here. It will include a pre-recorded version of the Gems and Java program so you can host your party whenever you want.
Green says Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia funds seven projects throughout Ethiopia including project Busajo.
"Children that have been living on the streets, they bring them into a shelter to provide them with everything they need including psychological care. They work with those children so they can go back and live with a family member who is able to take them in."
The volunteer organization also funds projects for education, athletic training for girls and pro-lapse uterus surgeries. They also fund a project called WRAPs which provides washable, reusable, affordable pads to women and girls. You can read more about Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia's projects online here.
