The Grand River Conservation Authority says starting today conservation areas such as Pinehurst Lake in Ayr will be open for limited activities, which will be open between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
BRANTFORD/AYR - Five more conservation areas have been opened by the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) this month.
Starting today, Brant (Brantford), Byng Island (Dunnville), Elora Gorge (Elora) and Pinehurst Lake will be open for limited activities.
In addition, all buildings and on-site facilities, including washrooms and playgrounds will stay closed.
Visitors are also reminded to practice physical distancing by staying at least two metres or six feet apart and they're also asking the public to plan short visits to these areas to make sure the space can be shared with others.
Also, rental equipment is limited at this time.
Gatehouses will remain closed as there is no gate at these conservation areas, and visitors without a Grand River Parks membership are required to pay cash in the payment boxes at the gatehouse. Standard entrance fees apply and standard boat launch fees for boats at Belwood Lake and Conestogo Lake conservation areas apply and must be paid upon entering the conservation area.
The GRCA will continue to sell its Grand River Parks membership pass beginning on June 1st.The membership pass, which costs $40.00, can only be purchased online. The pass grants cardholders access to all parks that have been re-opened. You can learn more information here.
Some parts of the conservation areas may not be open. You can go here to learn which GRCA properties are open and closed to the public, plus what activities you can do.
These areas will be open between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and parking is limited.
