The Navy Vets had a great weekend with victories over New Hamburg and Wellesley.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets continued their hot start to the season this year with back to back wins on the weekend.
The Navy Vets now sit in second place, one point behind New Hamburg and tied with Wellesley.
The Vets actually beat New Hamburg on Friday night, 3-2 in Overtime. 16-year old rookie Nolan Brett scored 5 minutes into the O.T period for his 1st career junior goal with an assist going to his brother Vets goalie Keaghan Brett.
Captain Kyle Baker had a goal and an assist in the victory. Keaghan Brett also had a terrific game in net making an amazing 69 saves including 31 in the 3rd period alone,the most saves by a Vets goalie since Michael Roefs made 73 against Simcoe in Jan 2013.
Saturday night the Navy Vets were in Burford where they walked away with an 8-3 victory over the winless Bulldogs.
The Navy Vets have a big home-and-home series this coming weekend in another instalment of the "Battle of Hwy 59" Friday night at Southwood Arena and Saturday night in Norwich.
