The Optimist Club of Norwich and District will be hosting a Halloween themed scavenger hunt for kids in Norwich this Saturday.
NORWICH - Lots of kids will be roaming the streets of Norwich for the Optimist Club of Norwich & District's first ever Halloween Hunt.
It's a scavenger hunt where kids dress up in their Halloween costumes and follow a list of clues which will take them to different jack-o'-lanterns stationed throughout town. Once they find one of the jack-o'-lanterns they will receive a sticker and possibly even some candy.
Each child will receive a Halloween treat bag once they solve at least six of the nine clues. Kids could also be entered in for a chance to win a Tito's Pizza gift card if they take pictures with each of the jack-o'-lanterns and e-mail them to info@norwichoptimist.com with the subject line "Halloween." The prize draw will take place sometime in November.
Club President Alison Vankerrebroeck says this scavenger hunt is geared towards elementary school aged kids who usually dress up for Halloween.
"It's a fun event where kids will be able to bicycle to the different locations or have their parents drive them."
Vankerrebroeck got the idea for the scavenger hunt from her niece, who participated in a similar event in the GTA last year.
"They had done it in their community at Christmas with Santas and she said her kids loved it! They went around town looking for the Santas, trying to spot them and they sent pictures in they got their names entered in for a prize."
The Halloween Hunt will be taking place on Saturday October 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
You can find a list of all of the scavenger hunt clues on the Optimist Club of Norwich & District's Facebook page.
