Over 5,000 people from Oxford County have signed a petition asking the government to reduce hydro costs.
The MPP for Oxford County tabled a petition today at the Ontario Legislature calling on the government to take further steps to reduce hydro costs.
Ernie Hardeman tabled the petition at Queens Park and says people are having a tough time with today's hydro prices.
"The thousands of people who have signed this petition make it clear that hydro is causing real hardship for families. The overwhelming response makes it clear that people don’t think an 8% rebate has solved the problem."
Over 5,000 peope have signed the petition so far and Hardeman says it is clear that people are having a tough time paying hydro bills right now in Oxford County.
"I’ve heard from a number of people that their hydro bills are now higher than their mortgage payments. Even sadder are the people who are forced to choose between buying food or clothing that their kids need or spending that money to pay the hydro bill."
You can still sign the petition on Hardemans web site which you can find here.
