Both drivers were transported to a hospital where the one driver of the SUV suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the transport truck was taken as a precaution.
TOWNSEND - An SUV and transport truck were involved in a head-on collision in Townsend.
It occurred around 6 o'clock last night on Highway 24 between Norfolk County Road 19 West and Concession 5
Constable Ed Sanchuk says both drivers were taken to hospital.
"We actually have a transport truck that was northbound. It was travelling along Highway 24 and this SUV, which was southbound, when the driver of the SUV crossed over to the northbound lanes colliding with the transport truck head-on."
The driver of the SUV suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Sanchuk says seat belts played a factor in saving both of the drivers' lives.
"This transport truck driver, from what I've been told, did swerve over so this potentially saved that SUV driver's life so kudos to this professional truck driver. I guarantee you that if this would have been a right head-on collision then we probably would have been notifying family and friends."
Local EMS and firefighters were helping OPP while on scene and the road has since been re-opened.
