It's the first heat wave of 2025 in southern Ontario.
UPDATE (June 25th at 4:30 a.m.) - Environment Canada has cancelled the heat warning.
---
OXFORD COUNTY - We're currently under a heat warning in Oxford County.
Environment Canada is predicting daytime highs in the mid 30s for today and tomorrow, but it will feel more like the mid 40s with the humidity. We'll have little relief from the heat when the sun goes down with overnight lows in the mid 20s.
Make sure you drink lots of water and stay in a cool place whenever possible. Utilize your air conditioning and fans if you can, or move to a cooler area of your home. If you're having a hard time staying cool in your home, visit one of the cooling centres in Oxford County.
It's a good idea to regularly check in with older adults, those living alone and other people who could be at risk of heat related illness. Symptoms of heat exhaustion include headache, nausea, dizziness, intense fatigue, thirst and dark urine.
The symptoms of heat stroke include red and hot skin, dizziness, nausea, confusion and change in consciousness.
