It will be a day of peace and love at Adams Building Supply, all in support of United Way Oxford.
WOODSTOCK - An upcoming barbecue at Adams Building Supply will take you back to 1969.
Hippie Fest will be taking place on Saturday, June 13th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and all of the proceeds will support United Way Oxford.
Marianne Butler and Jennifer Webb of Your Oxford Connection will sponsor the event. Megan Porter, the Resource Development Coordinator for United Way Oxford, explains how it came to be.
"Realizing that this is the 125th anniversary of the City of Woodstock, we just sort of started brainstorming ideas and you think of Woodstock 1969, and that's how we landed there."
The day will include hot dogs, hamburgers, prizes, and a kids' zone, but Resource Development Coordinator Megan Porter explains what one can expect.
"There'll be a barbecue for $5, we have a little vendor market, we'll have games and activities, there'll be a wheel to spin for in-store offers, as well as some really great prizes to give away."
The items to be given away include a hippie-themed picnic table from students of College Ave Secondary School and a baseball bat signed by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2015.
Porter says those looking for more information regarding the event should keep an eye on the Your Oxford Connection and Adams Building Supply Facebook pages.
