A coach in Woodstock has been charged after causing a disturbance during a youth hockey game.
WOODSTOCK - A kids hockey game ends with a coach being charged.
The Woodstock Police responded on Saturday just after 8:40 a.m. to a disturbance that happened during a 7-year-old hockey game. A coach was ejected from the game, but refused to leave causing rink staff to call police.
While police were trying to take the coach out of the building, he became violent and physically resisted officers. Two officers were forced to physically restrain the coach after he assaulted them.
As a result, the 42-year-old Woodstock man is facing charges of causing a disturbance, 2 counts of assaulting police, and resisting arrest.
Anyone with video of the incident is asked to forward it to the Woodstock Police Service, and police are saying this serves as a reminder to everyone that behaving with sportsmanship and respect goes a long way, as the conduct of coaches and spectators can set an example for young children.
