Leeanne Hopkins says she will connect and communicate with the student's parents and other Oxford County residents if she becomes a TVDSB trustee this fall.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - A mother of four from Zorra Township is looking to become an Oxford County trustee with Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB).
Leeanne Hopkins was an educator back in 2007, and she says her concerns have only grown since then.
"I feel Oxford is needing someone that will care, connect and communicate with the student's parents and other residents within Oxford County and give them a strong voice at the board level. I feel this is something I will be able to do if elected."
Hopkins was the Chair of the Zorra Local School Committee that completed a School Retention Plan in 2020 that provided the Zorra community with a plan of action should the possibility of local school closure in Zorra arise.
Hopkins has had other involvement with Oxford County education and swears she will not just be a seat-filler. She looks to address her concerns for the state of public education and the delivery of services that TVDSB provides to rural communities.
The municipal election will be held on October 24th.
