Oxford OPP were very upset with the number of people who chose to drink and drive this Long weekend
Impaired Driving continues to be a huge concern on our area roadways. Oxford OPP were very upset with the number of people who chose to drink and drive this Long weekend. They charged five people with impaired driving across the County during the last week and a 41 year old from Ingersoll was charged with impaired driving over in Norfolk County. Constable Stacey Culbert says having one impaired driver on the road is one too many and the police were not impressed to have to charge so many people with impaired driving. She adds Oxford OPP stopped nearly 1200 vehicles during R.I.D.E checks across the County over the Long Weekend. Culbert says you can expect to see more R.I.D.E programs happening in Oxford this summer and they can happen anywhere at any time. She was happy to report it was a rather safe weekend on the roads and in general as police did not respond to any major instances this long weekend.
