A bottle drive will be taking place at the Eastdale Public School on June 1st. Proceeds from this event will go towards purchasing school resources.
WOODSTOCK - Eastdale Public School's parent council is organizing a bottle drive at the school this Saturday.
Council has been holding this fundraiser for the last two years.
Organizer Kelli Chesney says they will be collecting empty beer cans, wine and liquor bottles to raise funds for educational resources.
"We'll be collecting any type of bottle, wine liquor, beer bottles and cans from 10:30 to 12 o'clock. Anybody can drop them off, we'll be in the front of the school and you can just drop them off for us and we will collect them all and return them off at the beer store. All the funds go to the school. We're trying to improve our learning commons, buy some new tables for our learning commons."
She says the idea to organize this event was brought up by one of the parents. Council has been holding this fundraiser for the last two years.
Chesney says the initiative has allowed them to buy resources to improve the students' school experience.
"The funds that it brings in allows us to purchase things for the school, things that are needed for the kids' educational resources or sometimes we buy, last year it went to some sports equipment, but this year it's going towards educational resources. So it allows us to improve experiences for the students."
The bottle drive starts at 10:30am.
