In one night police say an armed man stole a car, broke into a home, uttered threats and got into a police chase.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police have charged a man from Ingersoll who allegedly broke into a home armed with a weapon while the occupants were sleeping.
Officers were initially called early Sunday morning after a Chevrolet Cruz was stolen from the Ingersoll area. The man driving the stolen car took it to Woodstock where he broke into a house with three people sleeping inside. The man apparently threatened to hurt the men inside who woke up to him rummaging through the house. Another man in the house was able to call 9-1-1 and they were able to get the man to leave the scene.
Police say he also threatened one of the neighbors with a weapon while leaving the area in his stolen car. Police caught up with the man in the stolen chevy a short while later. He refused to pull over and led police on a short chase before they could make the arrest.
35 year old Paul Caughlin was charged with 10 criminal offences. They include light from Police, possession of a weapon, driving while disqualified,
possession of stolen property, break and enter, mischief, dangerous operation of a vehicle, utter threats x 2, and assault with a weapon.
