Ingersoll's Gavin Bryant Scores in OHL Debut

Ingersoll's Gavin Bryant had a memorable OHL debut in London, scoring a goal on one of his first shifts in the league.

INGERSOLL - Ingersoll's Gavin Bryant scored his first goal in his first game in the OHL on Friday night against London.

Bryant had to take last season off because of the pandemic. He plays centre for the Attack. Bryant was selected in the second round of the 2020 draft.

He's also a smart cookie, Bryqan was named the Midwest Division Academic Player of the Month back in April. Bryant says school has always been a priority for him and he really focused last year during the pandemic.

"This year has presented many challenges both on and off the ice, but through all the stress and challenges school has remained a top priority. Winning an award like this is a testament to the support I have received from my family, teachers and Attack Academic Advisor Sarah Rowe who have put me in the best position to succeed."

Between summer school and the first two quadmesters, Bryant has completed 5 courses with an overall average of 89%. Attack Academic Advisor Sarah Rowe says he did well with online learning.

"While some students have found online learning difficult and have had trouble motivating themselves, Gavin has seized the opportunity and excelled. His teachers are very impressed with his maturity, commenting that his insights and attention to detail are well beyond those of his peers."

Bryant has already tallied a goal and an assist on the young season, including this goal on opening night against London, in his first ever OHL game. The Attack lost that game 3-2.
