Many topics were discussed during the Heart FM morning show with Mayor Acchione, with the organics collection topping the list.
WOODSTOCK - It was another morning show interview with Mayor Jerry Acchione.
There were multiple topics discussed during the interview and organics collection was one of them. Changes are coming to garbage collection in Woodstock. As of January 1st there will be a green bin program in the City. Mayor, Jerry Acchione speaks to when residents will be getting the bins.
"Everybody's going to start receiving their bins and everything. You're going to get one small bin for the counter, one bigger bin for the street so that you can take it out and they'll collect it from the big bin. And those will start going out sometime in October."
Acchione says 60 plus percent of what goes into the garbage now, would be able to be put into the organics bin. He adds that it will be on every resident to make sure the green bin program does the job it is intended to do. Another topic that was brought up was budget season, as Council gets ready to discuss the 2026 budgets. Acchione says there are some important dates to keep in mind.
"Mark your calendars November 25th and the 27th. If you're curious, you want to see how your money is spent for taxes, come on out. There's always lots of seats available."
Acchione mentions that more services are wanted, but the conversation comes in to what needs to be cut in order to add more services versus the level of taxes. If you would like to listen to the full interview you can below.
