Ella Shelton called in to the Heart FM studio to chat with Cody and Chris about the upcoming Beijing Olympics and how she will represent Oxford County on the Team Canada women's hockey team.
OXFORD COUNTY - Heart FM's Cody and Chris had a chance to chat with Oxford County's only representative at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing Ella Shelton.
In the interview you can hear Ella talk about the following:
- Clarifying which area of Oxford County she is really from.
- Her experience playing hockey in Ingersoll growing up and moving up through the ranks to Team Canada.
- What it was like to win a gold medal at the World Hockey Championships.
- Her reaction on being named to Team Canada.
- Being a role model for young girls getting into hockey.
- What it is like to train for the Olympics and how this Olympic experience will be very different with COVID-19.
You can listen to the full interview below:
Also remember to send those words of encouragement to the Ingersoll 50+ Centre. They are working a video montage to send to Shelton before she heads to China. Shelton won't be able to contact home while at the games, so the montage will be a reminder of everyone cheering her on.
The centre is asking members and residents to send short videos with words of encouragement, a photo of signs in their window and they will create a short montage to send to Ella.
You can email your submissions to k.oegema@ingersollseniors.com or if you need some help you can call the centre at (519) 485-3869.
