Oxford County has approved the by-law to take out money from the Landfill and Waste Diversion Reserve Fund.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County will be using some of their money from the Landfill and Waste Diversion Reserve Fund to invest in renewable energy projects.
The by-law was approved during a council meeting on Wednesday.
Warden Mayberry says this is a good long term investment for the community.
"For the long term, thinking forward, 15 to 20 years, we'll be able to actually produce energy cheaper than what we can buy it, especially when you consider the price of energy will increase over the future."
Mayberry adds they'll be investing over $100,000.00 into some of the projects, which will include the Wastewater Plant.
"Instead of borrowing money, when we have money, we actually use ourselves. So in this case just a little over $100,000 that we borrowed from ourselves to pay for some of the renewable energy projects."
