Ada's Notebooks will make its ITOPA debut on Friday September 8th and tickets are on sale now.
INGERSOLL - Ada's Notebooks is about to make its debut at the Ingersoll Theatre of Performing Arts.
The show will mark the beginning of the beginning of the theatre's fall season once it opens in September.
Playwright and Director Rebecca McNall says the story follows three generations of women and how they discover one of them is slipping into Alzheimers and dementia.
"There are moments where you will probably cry, but you will also cry from laughter. I tried to balance it out in the play so that we don't break everyone's hearts in the audience."
Michelle Murphy will bring the character of Ada to life on stage, while Mary Mitchell will play Elizabeth, Joanne Barker will play Mabel and Julie Buffett has been cast as Lou.
Ada's Notebooks is based on true events because McNall lost her great aunt to Alzheimers.
"I inherited my aunt's desk and when I got her desk home, I realized there was a secret drawer in the desk. When I opened it I found her notebooks, and so that is what this whole story is based on, seeing Ada's notebooks and how she goes into dementia. So it's quite personal for me but it's a really great show."
The show will make its debut on Friday September 8th. Performances are also scheduled for Saturday September 9th, Sunday September 10th (matinee), Thursday September 14th, Friday September 15th, and Saturday September 16th (matinee) before the final curtain call after the matinee performance on Sunday September 17th.
Tickets for the show can be purchased online here or by calling the theatre at 519-485-3070.
