Some of the Littles from Big Brothers Big Sister are hanging out with cops this week as part of the Kids 'n Kops Program
WOODSTOCK - Some of the littles in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are getting to know the Woodstock Police this week.
9 youngsters are taking part in the Kids and Kops program. Case Worker and Fundraising and Marketing Assistant Kristen Ralph says it is important for our youth to know they can trust our local police. "It's very easy nowadays to put a bad spin on police, and we want our kids to know that the police in Woodstock are there to help them, that they are community minded and looking out for their best interest. So we really want to ensure that they have that view and that positive view of what the police officers do for them. We still have previous participants in this program from a few years ago who can see a police officer on the streets and they are able to stop and say hello and have a positive conservation with them."
All of the events are organized by the Woodstock Police and the kids are getting a chance to meet our local police and get to know them on a first name basis. The kids also get tours of the local EMS and Fire Services buildings and get to meet paramedics and firefighters during the program. They also have plenty of fun activities planned for the youth, including a trip to the art gallery and some fun with trampolines at the end of the week.
