$10,000 damage caused by cooking oil
WOODSTOCK - Look while you cook.
That's the message being sent out by the Woodstock Fire Department following a kitchen fire Monday night.
Crews were called to a James Street address shortly after 8:30pm when a pot of oil on the stove caught on fire while the homeowner was in the washroom.
While the homeowner tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, emergency crews needed to be called and were able to put the flames out quickly.
While no one was hurt, damage is pegged at $10,000.
Fire officials are reminding residents to stay with their food at all times when cooking.
