NORWICH - A man from Norwich Township will spend the next couple of years behind bars after pleading guilty to trafficking and criminal negligence causing death.
William Knapp was sentenced on Monday in Woodstock to 2 1/2 years in prison for selling fentanyl to his cousin Carolyn De Wit according to a report in the Woodstock Sentinel Review. He was also charged with manslaughter in her death. Knapp had his manslaughter charge withdrawn after entering his guilty plea.
De Wit was 32 years old when she died from a fentanyl overdose at a restaurant in Norwich in January of 2016. She had purchased the illicit fentanyl from Knapp.
