All of the money raised will help buy Halloween costumes for the kids at Ingamo Homes.
WOODSTOCK - A local family has raised money to help other families in Woodstock.
Seven-year-old Spencer Doan and nine-year-old Mckinley Johnston set up a lemonade stand during The Crew Riding Club's last Bike Night on Dufferin Street Friday night, in order to raise money for the kids at Ingamo Homes to purchase Halloween costumes.
Josee Doan is Spencer's mother and Mckinley's stepmother. She says the stand was a huge hit once everyone realized what the money was going toward.
"At first there were a lot of vendors and everyone was kind of doing what they could. But then the DJ came on and said hey these girls are raising money for the kids at Ingamo to get Halloween costumes and then everyone just ran over and was literally handing the girls cash."
She says the girls were blown away by the support, and they were able to raise $350.
"It was super exciting for them! I'm just really excited and I know Spencer is really excited and I know McKinley is really excited just to give back to something in the community that is so needed and I felt the direct effects of it."
Josee spent two years at Ingamo after she left her ex-husband. She says Ingamo did so much for her while she was there, and she was able to find a house and start a new career.
She would also like to thank the Crew Riding Club for their help because they purchased all of the supplies for the lemonade stand.
