The near fatal stabbing at a home on Light Street in Woodstock has made many residents question why so little information has been released.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock community is looking for answers.
Last week's stabbing at a home on Light Street has left a 42 year old Woodstock father in critical condition in hospital. The victim himself, Chris Hoffman is still unconscious therefore not able to talk to police about the incident.
Meanwhile, many residents have been wondering if there is a threat to the general public.
Community Service /Media Relations Officer with Woodstock Police, Nikki VanLeeuwen says the public should rest easy.
"There is not a concern for public safety, the suspect or suspects involved are known to Mr.Hoffman and will not be retaliating with anyone else in our community."
Since police were called out to the scene the evening of Monday March 12, they haven't offered up any new information, and continue to be tight lipped about the investigation.
VanLeeuwen says they are being conservative with information for good reason.
"We have to make sure that we keep the integrity of our investigation, so that is why we aren't releasing a lot of information. As soon as there is an arrest or charge, we will let the community know."
Investigators are encouraging the public to come forward if they have any information on this case. Contact the Woodstock Police Service at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 421-TIPS (8477) or toll-free at 1-800-222-TIPS.
