They will be playing in the RBC PGA Scramble National Final in Nova Scotia next month.
WOODSTOCK - A local golf team is heading to Nova Scotia.
The team of Dillon Newton, Kristi Foran, Taylor Blackwell and Ben Thornton will be playing in the RBC PGA Scramble National Final. Team Captain, Dillon Newton says the first step was a local qualifier.
"We played at the one at Craigowan Golf and Country Club in Woodstock and we finished as the low net team at Craigowan. So, we advanced to the Highland Golf Course in London to play at a regional qualifier."
Newton adds the team couldn't be happier to be going to Nova Scotia.
"So, to be able to represent sort of your local golf course and playing an event like this with our head pro, Ryan Oliver, who's from there, means a lot."
Newton and Ben Thornton have been members at Craigowan for three years. Newton says it has been a complete team effort as Kristi Foran and Taylor Blackwell have been an integral part of the team getting to where they are. The team is continuing to put in work and practicing locally to prepare for the tournament. They will fly from Toronto on October 4th, then start the tournament October 5th. The event will run until October 7th.
