MacKenzie Wins Another Term in Oxford County

Dave Mackenzie and his family after the 2019 win

Dave Mackenzie will serve another term as the MP for Oxford, plus other election results from around the region.

The Liberal Party of Canada will form a minority Government after winning the 2021 Federal election.

The Conservatives will once again form the official opposition.

Locally, we are surrounded by Conservative ridings.

In Oxford County Dave Mackenzie has won the election with about 47 percent of the vote. He has held that seat since 2004. Liberal candidate Elizabeth Quinto finished in second place followed by the NDP's Matthew Chambers in third place. We currently have 253/254 polls reporting results at this time and you can find the breakdown below.

Dave MacKenzie (Conservative) - 28,473 votes

Elizabeth Quinto (Liberal) - 12,135 votes

Matthew Chambers (NDP) - 10,873 votes

Wendy Martin (PPC) - 6,535 votes

Bob Reid (Green Party) - 1,617 votes

Alan Scovil (Christian Heritage Party) - 468 votes.

Heart FM was able to interview Mackenzie, moments after the win. You can listen to that interview below.

Heart FM was also able to catch up with the Liberal candidate for Oxford County after the race. Elizabeth Quinto says she will definitely be running again when the next election is called.

NDP candidate for Oxford Matthew Chambers was not thrilled with the election results, noting nothing has really changed since 2019.

Elsewhere Conservative John Nater has won the seat in Perth-Wellington. Former Conserative Party leader hopeful Leslyn Lewis has won the seat in Haldimand/Norfolk and Conservative Karen Vecchio has won in Elgin-Middlesex-London.

The closest race of the night locally was in Brantford-Brant where Conserative Larry Brock won with 38% of the vote.
