BRANT COUNTY - A major motion picture is going to be filmed in the region.
Brant County and the City of Brantford announced today that the Hollywood production of "The Cuban" will start filming in both municipalties on April 9th.
The movie is being directed by International Award Winning Director Sergio Navarretta. The poignant story of how the power of music knows no barriers stars Oscar Winner Louis Gossett Jr., Full Out and MTV’s Degrassi Star, Ana Golja, Grey’s Anatomy’s Star
Giacomo Gianniotti, and CSA Winner, Actor Enrico Colantoni.
County of Brant Mayor Ron Eddy says they are really excited about this project.
“We are pleased to welcome the producers, cast and crew of ‘The Cuban’ to the County of Brant and the community of Paris. We wish those involved in the creation of the film success and continue to welcome the arts & film industry to the County. We look forward to seeing our beautiful Brant featured in this moving and important production.”
President and CEO of the St. Joseph's Lifecare Foundation Olga Consorti says they are thrilled that this production is coming to Brantford.
“We are delighted to be a part of this special passion project that we hope will shed light on the challenges faced by more than 1.1 million Canadians affected directly or indirectly by Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia each day. After reading the script for The Cuban, I was moved by the story and how beautifully it aligned with our Mission, Vision and Values at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre, Brantford. As fate would have it, there was a small window of opportunity that made the former Stedman Community Hospice site available. This good timing, combined with the generous hearts of the producers, resulted in a donation to the Foundation to use this beautiful space as a backdrop to film this compelling story.”
