Woodstock Police would like to remind everyone that replica firearms can look exactly like the real thing.
WOODSTOCK - A 39-year-old man is facing serious weapons-related charges in the Friendly City.
According to Woodstock Police, there was a report of a suspect with a replica rifle-style BB gun and pointing it in the area of Montclair Drive on Monday night.
Officers were able to locate the man with the assistance of a drone, and he has since been charged with possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with a probation order.
Woodstock Police say replica firearms can be identical to legitimate firearms, so officers treat them like the real thing until they're confirmed otherwise. This means lethal force could be used, so you should never take your airsoft gun out in public.
