A 24 year old from Mississauga has learned an expensive lesson about speeding in Oxford County.
OPP say they stopped a car doing 172km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr zone on the 401 just west of Highway 2 on Sunday. The man has been charged with race a motor vehicle and had his license suspended for 7 days and his vehicle was impounded.
Oxford OPP say Drivers who engage in high risk driving behaviour put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it difficult for drivers to react to change, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injury or death will occur. OPP would like to remind the motoring public to manage their time and respect all the rules of the road when traveling.
