DELHI- Norfolk OPP are warning everyone to be vigilant when buying items online. This comes after a reported Facebook marketplace scam in Delhi cost someone $500.
The fraud was reported yesterday afternoon when the victim sent the money as a deposit for a vehicle and the seller promptly deleted their profile and advertisement.
Police are reminding everyone not to wire money electronically when buying on secondhand markets and to check for these warning signs: Anyone not willing to meet in person, anyone pressuring to act now, anyone insisting on using services that you cannot verify, or anyone selling and buying from far away.
