Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch makes one final plea to residents of Woodstock to donate to his Movember fund to win a challenge started by Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey
OXFORD COUNTY - Men around Oxford County only have a few more days to proudly display their Movember moustache.
The campaign aimed to get men to have themselves checked by their doctor has seen Mayor of Woodstock, Trevor Birtch, take part after he was forced to a friendly competition by a fellow Oxford County Mayor. "We have a special team of both bureaucrats and politicians here in Oxford County that have been looking for support to bring awareness to men's health issues this month. I am counting on the people of Woodstock to help in a special contest that the Mayor of Ingersoll Ted Comiskey has issued."
This is the 6th time Mayor Birtch has participated in Movember and although the competition may be in good fun it is for a very serious cause. "My daughter asked me when was the last time you got checked out, and I thought for a moment, and it had been too many years. That is what she had asked for her birthday present, that her daddy would get checked out, so that brings tears to my eyes. It is very important as we all know to support the men in our life and get them to a doctor."
Mayor Birtch has a message on what he is hoping from the public before the end of the month. "This is a great time for a last minute appeal! From the Mayor of Woodstock I am dragging behind right now, Mayor Comiskey is in the lead, so please I need your support." Over $49 million has been raised so far this month around the world to fund research to improve men's health. Many Oxford County employees including CAO Peter Crockett is taking part, and you can donate to the Oxford County Mo's group by following the link. http://ca.movember.com/donate/payment/member_id/10804237/
