Kids between the ages of six months and five years old have been deemed eligible by the province to take their first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
SWPH - Kids under the age of five will be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19 today.
The province has expanded the eligibility of Moderna's pediatric COVID-19 vaccine to include kids between the ages of six months old and five years old. They will be eligible for their second dose eight weeks after getting their first shot.
Southwestern Public Health says routine childhood vaccines should not be given within two weeks of the COVID vaccine, and parents with questions should contact their primary care provider.
Laura Anguish, the Program Manager of Southwestern Public Health's COVID-19 Vaccine Program, is encouraging people of all ages to get vaccinated.
"The high level of vaccination across Ontario has reduced the number of hospitalizations and the pressure on our health care system and allowed the lifting of many of the public health restrictions we lived under for two years.”
Southwestern Public Health offers COVID-19 vaccinations every Monday at South Gate Centre in Woodstock on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The clinic only accepts walk-in appointments, so you don't need to book in advance.
