1459 Devonshire Avenue is no longer zoned as industrial land. Woodstock Council approved the rezoning, which will now give the opportunity to build potential recreational buildings on the property.
WOODSTOCK - There could be development near Cowan Fields.
During the latest Woodstock City Council meeting, held on Thursday, August 10th, it was approved to rezone industrial land at 1459 Devonshire Avenue to Special Active Use Open Space.
Mayor, Jerry Acchione says that this move is one that will benefit the city.
"This is exciting for the City of Woodstock. This is adding more recreation land instead of having it as industrial/commercial."
Acchione speaks to what the plan could be for this land in the future.
"Not our council, but maybe next council will have an opportunity to do a vote and see, are you looking at more arenas, swimming pools, or basketball courts."
Acchione adds that there is now more possibilities for that land and is excited to do more with Cowan Fields.
