Woodstock Police are reminding drivers to steer clear of construction zones.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are putting out a reminder to motorists to plan ahead and take your time if you are traveling in a construction zone this summer.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM they have had a number of complaints from the public about people speeding and even a few crashes. "We had a complaint from a resident about people going down closed roads, we also had a couple of motor vehicle collisions on closed roads, which is a concern as well. So I think it is important that we have discussions, the police department understands the frustration because there are so many roads under construction right now, however, I think people just need to be patient. They need to plan ahead so they are not in a rush and not always late and they need to plan to take alternate routes."
VanLeeuwen says If you do have to drive through a construction zone take your time and be respectful of the people outside working. In some areas speed fines can be doubled in the construction zones when workers are present.
