A new four-storey seniors apartment complex is set to start building soon on the east end of Nellis Street, complete with 98 units, after the Woodstock Non-Profit Housing Corporation received approval from Woodstock City council.
WOODSTOCK - Construction will start soon on a four-storey 98 unit seniors apartment complex at the east end of Nellis Street.
City Council gave their approval to the Woodstock Non-Profit Housing Corporation for the project. The parcel of land near Lansdowne is owned by the county. Mayor Trevor Birtch says most of the credit should go to a Woodstock non profit group.
"The Woodstock non profit housing corporation had an application in for a four story apartment building, geared towards seniors and affordable housing. So this will be 98 units and a lot of work from the that volunteer organization and more work and funding that will come about from the County of Oxford and human services department."
They will keep half of the property which currently houses a water pumping station. The project still needs to clear County Council who will deal with the subject at their July meeting.
