OXFORD COUNTY - A GPS policy for vehicles owned by Oxford County was approved by City Council this week.
The GPS policy will see the Oxford Fleet installed with tracking equipment.
Director of Corporate Services, Lynn Buchner tells Heart FM that the GPS equipment will allow them track the movements of their vehicles.
"You know if somebody's garbage is missed we can track it down, the closest truck and get them down there to pick it up."
Buchner says that the tracking system will also help with maintenance control.
"It monitors, like the amount of salt on the road, what truck was being used and that way if there's any litigation in terms of a challenge with respect to the condition of the road at a particular time we have a record indicating, you know, what we were doing to mitigate that exposure."
Buchner says that all data will be kept digitally making the filing and pulling of information easily accessible.
