Land originally owned by Scouts Canada will be permanently protected as a new partnership is formed.
PRINCETON - A new partnership has been announced.
Scouts Canada, the Ontario Conservation Accelerator, and the Thames Talbot Land Trust will work together to protect Camp Shegardaynou in Princeton. Executive Director of Thames Talbot Land Trust, Daria Koscinski, is looking forward to what the future holds.
"So, we're really excited to be working in partnership to be able to protect a former Scouts camp that has been in use for Scouting purposes for many years and will now be a permanently protected nature reserve and continue to provide public access through trails and events."
Koscinski says it will now be known as Sycamore Valley.
"So, for us, that seemed like an important name to be able to recognize that site as Sycamore Valley. And that again also speaks to the valley pieces that I talked about along the creek. So, it just seemed like an appropriate name to recognize the features of the site."
Thames Talbot Land Trust is currently in the process of protecting and enhancing habitats. They are also making sure existing trails can support safe, sustainable public access while protecting sensitive habitats.
