No new patients will be admitted to Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll right now due to a COVID-19 Outbreak. The Emergency Department remains open.
INGERSOLL - A total of 9 patients have now tested positive during a COVID-19 outbreak at the Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll.
The outbreak is on the in-patient unit and was declared on Monday after 4 patients tested positive. All patients and families have been notified of the outbreak.
Earlier this week, the hospital announced several enhanced safety measures to combat the outbreak. Today they announced additional measures:
- No new patients will be admitted to AHI at this time. Patients requiring admission to hospital will be sent to neighboring hospitals. The Emergency Department remains open.
- Surveillance COVID testing of all inpatients.
- Surveillance COVID testing of all high risk staff working on the impacted area.
- Continued postponement of all non-urgent procedures.
One key message the hospital wants to convey is the community should not delay seeking care for any urgent or emergent needs. The hospital will only allow visitors on compassionate grounds. They will continue to work with Southwestern Public Health to implement further restrictions to keep staff and patients safe.
