You might notice some new stop signs posted in Oxford County.
A total of seven new stop signs have been erected at railway crossings throughout the County. Two of the stops signs were installed in Ingersoll and the rest were set up in South West Oxford. Opp Constable Lisa Narancsik tells Heart FM why they wanted to install the new signs. "They have been put up at railway crossings where there are no gates or barriers to stop vehicles from crossing when a train may be travelling that way, so they put the stop signs up in those locations to ensure that vehicles or pedestrians can cross the lines safely."
The following is a list of the railway crossings in Oxford County with stop signs:
· Thames Street South (near Clarke Road), Ingersoll
· Oakwood Street (near King Street West), Ingersoll
· Daniel Road (west of Highway 19) in South-West Oxford Township
· Ebenezer Road (west of Highway 19) in South-West Oxford Township
· Union Road(west of Highway 19) in South-West Oxford Township
· Prouse Road (west of Highway 19) in South-West Oxford Township
· Five Points Line (near Thomas Road) in South-West Oxford Township
The OPP would like to remind the public of the need to use extra caution when entering railway crossings, either on foot or in a vehicle. Stay safe and obey all signs!
