Do you have any plans to travel to the United States anytime soon?
CANADA - Now that June has arrived, lots of people have been thinking about their plans for the summer months.
Some might think about spending a day at Canada's Wonderland, Niagara Falls, or heading to cottage country in Muskoka. Canadians have also crossed the border to visit the United States in the past, but it looks like that won't be a popular vacation destination this year.
Statistics Canada has been reporting a decline in the number of Canadians visiting the United States in response to President Donald Trumps tariffs and his comments about making Canada the 51st state. It says close to 489,000 Canadian residents flew home from the United States in May, which is a 24.2 decline compared to the same time last year. Return trips by car also fell nearly 40 percent to 1.3 million.
Preliminary data also showed about one-million Canadian residents returned from trips to overseas countries last month, marking a 9.8 percent increase.
